My name is McKenzie Buckel and I am from Lexington, Kentucky. I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Kentucky (GO CATS!) in 2014 and then worked as an ER nurse at U of L Hospital for 8.5 years. I graduated from UK again with my Doctor of Nursing Practice degree specializing in Family Nurse Practitioner in 2023. During my education my research focused on decreasing rates of HIV among intravenous drug users. I love being a nurse and now nurse practitioner because I am fascinated with the human body and practice of medicine and I love taking care of others. I currently live in Shelbyville, Kentucky on a small farm with my husband, Brian, 2 year old daughter, Marley, and 2 month old son, Bennett. We also have horses, a dog and a three legged cat.
