Family Health Centers – Americana is seeking a Behavioral Health Assistant to aid in coordinating mental health care for newly arrived refugee clients. This new position will be responsible for communicating with newly arrived refugees, medical providers, and Refugee Resettlement Agency staff. They will provide general psychoeducation about what mental health services are like in the US, will review mental health screener results from Refugee Health Assessment appointments and will coordinate care with specialized programs, internal FHC Behavioral Health Services, and other community providers as appropriate.
Family Health Centers-Americana provides refugee health assessments and is home to a Survivors of Torture program currently expanding services to reach Afghan survivors impacted by combat. The ideal candidate is mission driven, is well versed in trauma-informed approaches, and feels comfortable working with diverse populations.
This position is for 30 hours per week with flexible scheduling, strong benefits and salary between $16 – $20/hour, based on experience.

Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or a closely related field.
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted, as determined applicable by Civil Service.
