My name is Frances Black and I serve as a licensed clinical social worker at Phoenix Health Center. I support patients in engaging, and remaining engaged, in behavioral health services. With patients, we discuss, determine, and decide upon the most appropriate level of therapeutic care for their individual care needs. I believe in meeting clients where they are but also in helping them move toward greater self-sufficiency. Social service work has been my mission since high school graduation when I immediately enlisted in the United States Air Force. Ten years of service allowed me to travel from Alabama to Texas, Florida, Greece, Ohio, Italy and finally California. I then did service work for the State of California for almost ten years before deciding to return to school to earn a Certificate in Human Services which led to a Master’s Degree in Social Work. I am honored to continue this mission of service with change agents who share dedication in creating the highest quality of care for those experiencing homelessness in our community. My clinical interests include crisis intervention, substance use prevention and treatment, trauma and strengths-based resiliency.
My most prized accomplishment in life is being a mother and grandmother. I love traveling to visit close friends and family. In my spare time you will find me cooking up something yummy or sitting in front of a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle.
