I have 28 years of nursing experience, over 5 as Nurse Practioner. I have worked in Orthopedics, ER, Labor and Delivery, High Risk ante-partum, and circulated as an or nurse. My family says all I have ever wanted to do was to be a nurse. I credit this to a nurse who showed compassion to me following an emergency surgery I had as a child. I was hospitalized over Easter weekend, and my mother was 8 1/2 months pregnant with my younger sister. To this day, I can remember the nurse bringing me an Easter basket because I was worried I wouldn’t be home for the Easter bunny.
During my high school years, I volunteered on the transplant floor at Jewish, and took care of a child with cerebral palsey on the weekends. My passion has always been to treat people the way I was treated. I love taking care of my patient at Family Health Canters, as it truly is a population who makes me feel like they need me. Many of them give me hugs, and I always enjoy the cards, they send. I feel like I can make a difference here. My goal has always been to make a difference in the world.
When I am not working, I spend most of my time with my husband of 20 years, my 12 year old son, and 2 dogs. While most of our activities involve sports because I am the only female in the house, I do enjoy teaching my son to cook. Once a month a get together with my girl friends for a girls only wine and craft night. When the weather is warm, my family and I always enjoy spending time in the pool and sneaking away to the beach for a week or two. This gives me time to catch up on reading my favorite murder mystery and just spending time with my family.
