LOUISVILLE’S FAMILY HEALTH CENTERS INC.
OBSERVES THE NATIONAL HEALTH CENTER WEEK
Now through Saturday, August 13
(Louisville, KY- August 11, 2022) – In conjunction with the National Association of Community Health Care Centers, Family Health Centers (FHC) is celebrating its standing as a Federally Qualified Health Center and Health Care for the Homeless organization during National Health Center Week (NHCW). For 46 years Family Health Centers has been putting health equity into action by providing access to preventative and primary care to Louisville’s West End and other medically underserved neighborhoods and populations. Family Health Centers’ locations are where there are few medical resources and the organization provides care to anyone, regardless of the ability to pay for services.
FHC is a not-for-profit community health center that cares for the health and wellness of the Louisville community by providing primary and preventative health care services for men, women, and children at eight clinical locations. Two locations support the city’s homeless, Family Health Centers – Phoenix and Wayside Respite Care. The Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) provides federal grant support to help offset costs so FHC can provide services on a sliding fee scale to help make healthcare affordable and offer supportive services to address other barriers to health care.
“FHC has a special place in the Louisville Metro health care community, and National Health Center Week is an opportunity to showcase the work we do to improve health and wellness,”
states Dr. Bart Irwin, FHC Chief Executive Officer. “All of us at FHC are exceptionally proud of the high-quality services we provide to assist the vulnerable individuals and families in our community, including those experiencing homelessness, without health insurance, immigrants, and many more, not just this week but every week of the year.”
Over the past year, FHC has received numerous Community Health Center Quality Recognition Awards, which include:
The Gold Level Health Centers Quality Leader, which acknowledged FHC in the top 10% of all community health centers for the best overall clinical quality measures|
The COVID-19 Data Reported & COVID-19 Testing
The Patient-Centered Medical Home Award
Additionally, during the past 2 years, FHC has been at the forefront of advocating COVID-19 awareness providing testing and vaccine administering focused on equitable access to COVID-19 services to underserved areas and populations in the city, along with these important community initiatives:
· The ‘Help Make a Home’ donation campaign/drive for FHC’s Phoenix Health Care for the Homeless location, which supported purchasing essential home goods for persons living on the streets or in shelters;

ABOUT NATIONAL HEALTH CENTER WEEK 2022: National Health Center Week (NHCW) has been celebrated for more than 30 years to recognize the services and contributions of America’s health centers. While there are countless reasons to celebrate health centers, the most important and unique is their long success in providing access to affordable, high-quality, cost-effective healthcare to medically vulnerable and underserved people in the United States. This year NHCW honors those who lost their lives during the (ongoing) COVID-19 pandemic, including front-line providers, staff, and patients.
