Pharmacy Services
The FHC Pharmacy dispenses drugs and medications to patients as prescribed by health care providers on the FHC Medical Staff. In addition to a formulary of specific drugs to dispense, a Patient Profile System is maintained which provides an accurate record of all medications dispensed to a patient. Prescriptions are provided on a sliding-fee-scale to eligible patients through the pharmacy at
2215 Portland Ave.
Medicine Assistance Program
FHC participates in a number of assistance programs that are designed to help patients obtain needed medications when cost is an issue. As a federally approved Community Health Center project, FHC participates in the 340B Drug Pricing Program of the U.S. Public Health Service. Under this program FHC can purchase medications at a reduced rate, and pass those costs savings on to its patients. Through programs such
as Pfizers’ Sharing the Care Program and the Kentucky Physicians Care program, patients are able to obtain prescriptions for as little as the normal dispensing fee.
Eligible patients can also acquire certain medications through FHC’s Medicine Assistance Fund.
This fund, supported solely by employee payroll contributions and private donations, pays for prescriptions patients can’t afford, even after the standard FHC pharmacy discount. FHC staff also work with a number of area organizations to help patients obtain prescriptions, either free-of-charge or at reduced fees, through various community outreach programs.
