Family Health Centers Opens Eighth Location, November 13, 2017  Today, the Family Health Centers, Inc. (FHC) Board of Governors hosted an Open House and Ribbon Cutting to celebrate the opening of the organization’s newest community health center location at 2500 West Market Street. The facility was formerly KentuckyOne Health Westside Medical Clinic that was closed in August of 2017. Local elected leaders concerned with the closing of a health care clinic in an underserved area of the city, helped to bring KentuckyOne Health and Family Health Centers together to negotiate the transfer of the building to FHC. KentuckyOne Health donated the facility and the equipment to FHC, which reopened as Family Health Centers-West Market on Nov. 6, 2017

Family Health Centers Opens New Dental Office, April 11, 2017  The Family Health Centers, Inc. has opened a new dental office as part of its East Broadway location (834 East Broadway). In 2016, FHC received a $350,000 annual grant award from the Health Resources and Services Administration to expand oral health services to underserved communities in the Commonwealth. “Dental care is a huge need for our patients,” states Bill Wagner, CEO of FHC. “The Family Health Centers’ model is to provide multiple services in one location, to care for the whole person. This new dental office removes barriers to obtaining dental services and is a valuable service for the community.” Kentucky consistently ranks poorly on measures for oral health; in a recent Commonwealth Fund Report on Health System Rankings (2017), Kentucky was ranked 49th out of the 50 states for the number of adults with significant tooth loss.

Family Health Centers Expanding Services to Help Address Opioid Crisis, July 13, 2016   The Family Health Centers (FHC) announced its plan to launch a substance abuse services program to help address the opioid crisis in Kentucky. Earlier this year, FHC won a competitive grant award totaling $325,000 annually from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to begin providing direct services to individuals with opioid addiction. Louisville, like many cities across the nation, is currently experiencing an unprecedented explosion of heroin and other opioid addiction, resulting in overdose deaths.

Secretary Hillary Clinton Visits the Family Health Centers May 10, 2016   The Family Health Centers, Inc. (FHC) is hosting a visit with Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton on Tuesday, May 10.  Family Health Centers, Inc. (FHC) is a private, nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide high-quality, comprehensive primary and preventive health care to the residents of Louisville Metro without regard to an individual’s or family’s ability to pay.  Secretary Clinton asked to tour the historic FHC-Portland location to learn more about the services FHC provides to women and children.

Doctors & Lawyers for Kids begins medical-legal program at Family Health Centers, Inc.  January 2016 The Family Health Centers, Inc. has joined the Doctors & Lawyers for Kids in a medical-legal partnership.  Doctors & Lawyers for Kids now offers free civil legal aid to improve the health and well-being of children and families seen at Family Health Centers – Portland. FHC received grant funding through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to support this new initiative to help address patients’ complex social needs that can impact health.
